- We completed our first round of UX interviews and discovery research over the summer — talking to early-career researchers about what doesn't work in how academic knowledge is produced and shared.
- That research directly shaped the Figma designs. The mockups were converted to Bootstrap and passed to the development team.
- Our logo was ready.
- The launch page went live at cogweave.org. LinkedIn and Bluesky pages were created.
- Development began with MVP scoping, and the documentation for MVP stages 1 and 2 was drafted and approved.
- We had our first developer meetings, set up Jira, ran multiple UX sessions to refine the Figma designs, reviewed and finalized user flows and the sitemap.
- June was dedicated to bug fixes and stability work, tightening up everything for the first round of user testing.
Cogweave — building updates
- Development is underway. Since October, the team has been building out the platform's core structural layers.
- The main homepage was built. Navigation panels for CogMap, Discussions, and Papers are in place, along with user-facing navigation elements. The footer and sitemap are complete. User registration and authentication are complete, so people can create accounts. The first phase of the role model (permissions architecture) is implemented, user profile cards are built, and the admin panel is in development.
- Users can now upload, edit, and download papers.
- Early February focused on the foundations: Password recovery, the user's personal dashboard, and the CI/CD pipeline, including server setup, storage buckets, domains, and SMTP configuration. We also created the first version of the Papers page. Late February added the account settings page, the first pass of the admin panel (login, reference data, user management, and user-level actions), the ability to create a paper, and user deletion/deactivation.
- Early March brought paper viewing and the paper editor online. Late March added reviews and comments on papers, plus content management (papers and discussions) in the admin panel.
- The team shipped a wave of new core features: Discussions, Guides, CogMap, homepage search, and public profiles. Early April also brought continued editor improvements. By late April and into early May, work shifted to CogMap.
- Mid-May delivered the new homepage with search, plus public user profiles.
